Renters insurance?

bodeebabe asked:

What is a good company to have renters insurance through, that is still pretty cheap?
I go through Geico on my Auto insurance and they are very expensive for anything other than Auto insurance.

have you tried your car insurance company-seems if you insure everything through the same company the rates are less. State Farm is like that.

Renter’s Insurance in general is very cheap, with Geico I pay something like $200 for the year…and I live in South Florida, Hurricane Central!

Renters insurance, well, there’s not much competition for it. They’re all about the same – $150 a year will get you a decent policy with replacement cost and $20,000 of stuff, just about anywhere.

The FIRST place to look is the same place that has your car insurance, because even if it’s $50 more than everyone else, if it saves you 10% or 20% off your car insurance with a “package discount”, it’s still cheaper.

After that, any A rated, admitted carrier is going to be fine. Check with a local, independent agent.

There is another coverage you need to look for in renter’s insurance: liability coverage. This is to protect you if you accidently cause damage to the property such as by starting a fire. If something happens, the landlord can sue you.
