when you join aopa, then you can call their insurance broker. they have great rates on insurance – you would get enough to cover the type of plane you fly. ie 50k for cherokee 140 or cessna 152, 100,000 for arrow/old 172 etc…
you also need some to cover passenger liability. you make the call here – the owner of the plane will also have insurance for that.

Try Avemco. I have used them for my insurance needs since obtaining my ticket in 2004. 25k damage insurance will run approximately $300/yr. Smart bet is to also include some insurance to cover bodily injury and property damage as well. You can get a 100K/500K addition for an additional $180/yr.
