Adding new auto insurance to my existing policy?

Justin H asked:

I live in Oklahoma, my wifes parents just cancelled all the kids auto insurance, I’m going to get my wifes insurance on my policy but I was wondering if we could add her brothers and sister to ours as well? They’re young and are having a hard time paying bills the way it is. I thought if I put them on ours then they would get a little discount. They don’t live with us. Is that a requirement? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Nope, they aren’t part of the household they can’t be on your insurance. If your wife had had an accident while still on her parents’ insurance there would have been HUGE problems with a claim, unless you just got married and she lived at home driving a family vehicle until you wed.

If her brothers and sisters do not live with you they cannot be on your auto insurance policy. The drivers must live in the same household in order to be on the same policy.

If they need help finding affordable auto insurance they need to spend some time comparing quotes from a few different insurance providers. By doing a little research they will be able to find the cheapest insurance available.
