What are some basic answers I should give when getting car insurance?

Douglas C asked:

I canceled my policy just now since I sold my car and am taking public transportation, but when I get it again, should I just say I’ve always had it?

Also, they seem to ask a lot of question I might just be thinking too much into, but are there any little “trappings” they ask to raise the insurance? Like when they ask how long it take you to get to work, etc.

I think about me answers so much I may just be over thinking it and giving bad answers.

    Just answer truthfully.

If you lie and say you had insurance before- they may ask for the phone number and policy number of the prior carrier.

Do not lie about who drives the car or the use of the car. Do not lie about any prior damage on the car.

If you lie in the application of insurance – and that lie is material to the insurance company agreeing to insure you – and you later have an accident (a claim) and the claim investigation turns up that lie- the insurance company could deny coverage for the accident and give you a refund of premium due to the material misrepresentation.

    Why bother taking that risk?

Just tell the truth and shop around for the best rate you can get.

    Create a video blog…instantly.

For car insurance the fastest way to get a cheap quote is do a car policy comparison. Be sure to choose the same coverage levels, you can get an accurate quote to compare against others. Use the same zipcode, car make/model, mileage and driving history to make sure you get accurate comparison. To get fast auto quotes, go to and you can compare the major auto insurance companies.

If you tell the truth, the whole truth and noting but the truth, you have nothing to be worry about. Basic answers as opposed to not basic answers ? Alfred Newmann said it best “What me worry ?”…. My Mother used to tell me….If you think too much, your head can overheat and you can die.

How many accidents you’ve been in. Number of tickets. How long has it been since your last accident. Don’t lie. They will find out!
